Reborn babies are amazingly lifelike vinyl dolls created by artists known as reborners. Reborn babies are not a brand, but rather a movement, and can contain newborns, infants, and toddlers which appear so realistic sometimes you have issue telling the real ones from the reborns!

The art of reborning got its start in America but has since spread around the world and has come to be a very favorite hobby and collectable. Reborn artists will use a doll kit that comes unpainted and includes a head and limbs. They then use a wide collection of paints and varied techniques to originate the skin color and delicate additions such as skin flushes, slippery fingernails, and even tiny veins that help achieve the corollary of a real living baby. To originate the hair, many hours are spent micro-rooting in mohair with a fine needle followed by sealing it with waterproof glue which allows the hair to be slowly dampened, brushed, and styled. Many times, the baby is weighted to give the feel of a comparable baby weight.

Reborners fabricate their own unique skills and techniques, and no two babies are the same. Creating a reborn baby is very time keen and requires a good amount of patience and love from the artist. Some artists will even originate the reborn baby to the purchaser’s desires.

Reborners are enduringly improving the art of reborning in the hopes of creating an even more realistic baby, and over the years such new technical enhancements such as a heartbeat stimulator and stimulating breathing movements of a sleeping newborn have been developed.
